Berky Water filter and filter elements (ship time)

Just an update on what the shipping time was on the filter system and additional black filters.

I know someone posted in the last few weeks that there was a backorder on the black filters. I think they ordered from the FrugalSquirrel.

I ordered from James Filter in Colorado and they shipped my Berky filter system and an additional 2 black filters in 1 business day.

Do these filters take out the drugs in the water supply?

Not sure. Not listed. I don't think anyone has addressed that issue yet, but I did find this statement:

Re: Berky Water filter and filter elements (ship time)

That was probably me. Ordered from Frugal/Wendy Mae on 4 Mar, and the next day they told me there would be a 3-week delay on the Black Berkey filters. But a week later, I got a missed delivery notice from UPS on my door - after a few phone calls, I figured out it was my Royal Berkey and filters.

Frugal told me they drop ship the Berkey stuff out of Colorado, so the problem isn't/wasn't with Frugal. However, I'm kind of pissed about having them shipped UPS with a signature required upon delivery. While I'm sure that saves them money on the insurance for swiped packages, etc., dealing with UPS here is a real pain in the ass. Since they come while I'm at work, my choices are:
1) Have them deliver it to work (that's why the phone calls - to make sure what the package was so I don't accidentally have an ammo order dropped off at a school), or; 2) Drive two cities away smack in the middle of rush hour to get it. And no, I don't want my neighbors signing for my stuff.

Anyway, it sounds as if the Black Berkey shortage has been alleviated - for now.

They should if they removed all those other chemicals and pesticides. Drugs are just chemicals too. At least I hope I am right :D

The 'black' filters have an exposed carbon core, Marathon Elements have the carbon inside the ceramic outer core .... same, same, only less expensive and American made.

I keep telling people that AquaRain is as well built as the Big Berky with four elements (instead of two) and stainless steel construction for much less money but ... saturation advertisement from the doomer radio stations and web sites does trumps good economic sense.

Anyone hanging silver or copper dollars inside their berkeys or other filters just to add insurance against bacteria?

And you Sir are correct.....it's a great unit at an excellent price, I believe the filters will interchange with Katadyns as well . I took your word for it on another thread and purchased one.....every bit as good if not better than the katadyn (wich I also own) and cheaper , the replacement filters are cheaper also.
Thanks BSD

Got a link where I pick one up at a good price (or do you just order off AquaRains website)?

Sometimes they sell on Ebay at a discount, I suggest the AquaRain 400, if you do not need the capacity just use the plugs provided using two filters and keep the spares.

Beats that glow in the dark Berky toy.
